As the most highly recycled consumer product today, lead acid batteries are an environmental success story. More than 80% of lead produced in the United States is used in lead-acid batteries and 98% of all battery lead and plastic is recycled, demonstrating the enormous impact battery manufacturers have on the upkeep of our safe and clean environment. The battery industry takes pride in the advanced technology and common sense practices it uses to dramatically reduce lead emissions from manufacturing and recycling facilities, and efforts are always in progress towards solidifying the full 100% of lead produced through public awareness programs and new technology.
